to fix your "search provider" click on the wrench icon, pick "add-ons", and on the "add-ons" popup window select "search providers". pick a new default/standard search provider if you kept the alternatives. if that works as it should - test it with a search query in the "onebox" - my theory makes sense, and you can delete the manipulated "search provider" entry (the default/standard before you changed it). if your favourite search provider is not more on the list click on "find other search providers" at the bottom (the text can differ, i look at a german ie9, my translations won't exactly match what you see).
